The GR Business Breakfast promises to be a strong presence in the Grand Rapids area for relevant leadership and community information.

Birthed out of a desire to bring back a professional early morning format for Business Owners and Leaders, Gary Ball and Michelle Steffes began the early stages of forming GR Business Breakfast in July 2013.

Gwyn Harnish

Vice President

Gwyn Harnish is a Certified Financial Marketing Professional and the Vice President of Marketing for United Bank of Michigan. A graduate of Davenport University, she has over thirty years of experience in banking and is proud to work for a local community bank. Gwyn is passionate about financial literacy and volunteers with Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity. Gwyn believes that a positive and supportive environment for networking and information sharing is vital to both personal and professional success.

Kim Sorrelle

Kim Sorrelle has been the owner/general manager of English Hills Country Club since its inception in 1983. In 1997, Kim purchased what was formerly Adrian’s Ramona Terrace and is now English Hills Terrace. With six event rooms and three outdoor spaces, English Hills can host as many as 1200 guests at any one time. As owner and partner in other businesses throughout the years, Kim has been able to take her knowledge and mentor others.

Kim is also the Executive Director of Rays of Hope International, a humanitarian organization that partners with people in their own countries that have a passion, a vision, a mission to help others.

Kim has served on multiple boards and committees in West Michigan and beyond. She is passionate about helping others and her community.

Rose A. Coonen

Board Member

Rose concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate and business law, estate planning, probate and bankruptcy. In recent years, Rose has focused her estate planning practice on serving the special needs community and helping people with disabilities and their families to achieve the maximum level of independence while preserving public benefits and planning to enhance their quality of life. Coonen Law, PLLC is committed to personal service and advocacy while providing legal services in a cost-effective manner.

Rose has practiced law in the West Michigan area since 2004 and is actively involved in the community. She has served on various non-profit boards in the past and currently serves on the board of The King’s Table Ministries. Rose is also an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University teaching business law.

Dr. Laurie Brush

Board Member

Dr. Brush is the founder of Heaven at Home Pet Hospice. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College (BA) and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Michigan State University. As a practicing vet since 1998, she became involved in the movement toward in-home palliative care and euthanasia, beginning with her own 17-year-old rescue dog, Herkemer. Through her personal experience, she became a passionate advocate for peaceful at-home traditions. She is a member of the International Association for Animal Hospice & Palliative Care, the American Veterinarian Medical Association (AVMA), the MVMA, the WMVMA and the West Michigan Academy of Small Animal Practitioners (WMASAP).
