Dr. Brush is the founder of Heaven at Home Pet Hospice. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College (BA) and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Michigan State University. As a practicing vet since 1998, she became involved in the movement toward in-home palliative care and euthanasia, beginning with her own 17-year-old rescue dog, Herkemer. Through her personal experience, she became a passionate advocate for peaceful at-home traditions. She is a member of the International Association for Animal Hospice & Palliative Care, the American Veterinarian Medical Association (AVMA), the MVMA, the WMVMA and the West Michigan Academy of Small Animal Practitioners (WMASAP).
Dawnese began her professional career as a Junior High School English teacher, but quickly turned entrepreneur for more freedom and flexibility as she became a Mom. Starting, building and selling businesses (restaurant, retail, publications and direct sales) for over 20 years, she’s now turned her experience into opportunities to share with others.
